Verse 1

Aṅgaṃ Hareḥ Pulakabhūṣaṇamāśrayantī
Bhṛṅgāṅganeva Mukulābharaṇaṃ Tamālam |
Aṅgīkṛtākhilavibhūtirapāṅgalīlā
Māṅgalyadā'stu Mama Maṅgaladevatāyāḥ ||1||

Like a female bee resting on a dark tamala tree adorned with buds, Lakshmi rests upon Hari's body, made beautiful by its thrill. May the play of Her sidelong glance, which embraces every splendour, bring auspiciousness.

Verse 2

Mugdhā Muhurvidadhatī Vadane Murāreḥ
Prematrapāpraṇihitāni Gatāgatāni |
Mālā Dṛśormadhukarīva Mahotpale Yā
Sā Me Śriyaṃ Diśatu Sāgarasambhavāyāḥ ||2||

Lakshmi's glances move repeatedly toward and away from Murari's face through love and bashfulness, like a female bee circling a great lotus. May that garland of glances from the ocean-born Goddess direct prosperity toward me.

Verse 3

Āmīlitākṣamadhigamya Mudā Mukundam
Ānandakandamanimeṣamanaṅgatantram |
Ākekarasthitakanīnikapakṣmanetraṃ
Bhūtyai Bhavenmama Bhujaṅgaśayāṅganāyāḥ ||3||

Joyfully beholding Mukunda, the source of bliss, Lakshmi's pupil and lashes remain poised in a sidelong gaze. May the eye of the consort of the Lord who reclines on the serpent serve my welfare.

Verse 4

Bāhvantare Madhujitaḥ Śritakaustubhe Yā
Hārāvalīva Harinīlamayī Vibhāti |
Kāmapradā Bhagavato'pi Kaṭākṣamālā
Kalyāṇamāvahatu Me Kamalālayāyāḥ ||4||

On the Kaustubha-bearing chest of the conqueror of Madhu, Her series of glances shines like a necklace of blue gems. May the wish-granting glance of the lotus-dwelling Goddess bring me well-being.

Verse 5

Kālāmbudālilalitorasi Kaiṭabhārer
Dhārādhare Sphurati Yā Taṭidaṅganeva |
Mātuḥ Samastajagatāṃ Mahanīyamūrtir
Bhadrāṇi Me Diśatu Bhārgavanandanāyāḥ ||5||

Upon the raincloud-dark chest of the slayer of Kaitabha, Lakshmi shines like lightning. May the revered form of Bhrigu's daughter, Mother of all worlds, direct auspicious things toward me.

Verse 6

Prāptaṃ Padaṃ Prathamataḥ Khalu Yatprabhāvān
Māṅgalyabhāji Madhumāthini Manmathena |
Mayyāpatettadiha Mantharamīkṣaṇārdhaṃ
Mandālasaṃ Ca Makarālayakanyakāyāḥ ||6||

The verse says that through the power of Her glance, Manmatha first found a place in the auspicious slayer of Madhu. May a slow, gentle half-glance of the Ocean's daughter fall upon me here.

Verse 7

Viśvāmarendrapadavibhramadānadakṣam
Ānandaheturadhikaṃ Muravidviṣo'pi |
Īṣanniṣīdatu Mayi Kṣaṇamīkṣaṇārdham
Indīvarodarasahodaramindirāyāḥ ||7||

Her half-glance is described as able to grant the splendour of Indra's station and as a deep source of joy even to the enemy of Mura. May Indira's glance, akin to the heart of a blue lotus, rest on me for a moment.

Verse 8

Iṣṭāviśiṣṭamatayo'pi Yayā Dayārdra-
Dṛṣṭyā Triviṣṭapapadaṃ Sulabhaṃ Labhante |
Dṛṣṭiḥ Prahṛṣṭakamalodaradīptiriṣṭāṃ
Puṣṭiṃ Kṛṣīṣṭa Mama Puṣkaraviṣṭarāyāḥ ||8||

Through Her compassion-filled gaze, even those of especially cherished understanding are said to attain heaven's station with ease. May the lotus-seated Goddess's glance, radiant like the centre of a blooming lotus, create the nourishment I seek.

Verse 9

Dadyāddayānupavano Draviṇāmbudhārām
Asminnakiñcanavihaṅgaśiśau Viṣaṇṇe |
Duṣkarmadharmamapanīya Cirāya Dūraṃ
Nārāyaṇapraṇayinīnayanāmbuvāhaḥ ||9||

The poet asks the raincloud of Narayana's beloved's eyes, driven by the wind of compassion, to carry the condition and effects of misdeeds far away and rain a stream of wealth upon him, pictured as a distressed, possessionless young bird.

Verse 10

O revered, lotus-eyed Mother, may salutations to You—which the verse describes as bringing prosperity, delighting the senses, having the power to confer sovereignty and lifting away misfortune—occupy me always.

Verse 17

O Goddess who dwells in a lotus and holds a lotus, radiant in the purest white garment, fragrance and garlands; O captivating beloved of Hari who brings prosperity to the three worlds, be gracious to me.

Verse 19

Svarvāhinīvimalacārujalaplutāṅgīm |
Prātarnamāmi Jagatāṃ Jananīmaśeṣa-
Lokādhināthagṛhiṇīmamṛtābdhiputrīm ||19||

At dawn I bow to the Mother of the worlds, daughter of the ocean of nectar and consort of the Lord of every realm, whose body is bathed by the elephants of the directions with clear, beautiful heavenly water poured from golden vessels.

Verse 20

Kamale Kamalākṣavallabhe Tvaṃ
Karuṇāpūrataraṅgitairapāṅgaiḥ |
Avalokaya Māmakiñcanānāṃ
Prathamaṃ Pātramakṛtrimaṃ Dayāyāḥ ||20||

O Kamala, beloved of the lotus-eyed Lord, look upon me with sidelong glances rippling with abundant compassion; among those who possess nothing, I stand as a foremost, genuine recipient of Your mercy.

Verse 21

Devi Prasīda Jagadīśvari Lokamātaḥ
Kalyāṇagātri Kamalekṣaṇajīvanāthe |
Dāridryabhītihṛdayaṃ Śaraṇāgataṃ Mām
Ālokaya Pratidinaṃ Sadayairapāṅgaiḥ ||21||

O Goddess, sovereign of the world and Mother of all, auspicious in form and life-beloved of the lotus-eyed Lord, be gracious. Each day look with compassionate sidelong glances upon me, who has sought refuge with a heart afraid of poverty.

Verse 22

Stuvanti Ye Stutibhiramūbhiranvahaṃ
Trayīmayīṃ Tribhuvanamātaraṃ Ramām |
Guṇādhikā Gurutarabhāgyabhāgino
Bhavanti Te Bhuvi Budhabhāvitāśayāḥ ||22||

The closing verse says that those who daily praise Rama—embodiment of the three Vedas and Mother of the three worlds—with these praises become rich in virtues, recipients of weighty good fortune and people whose intentions are esteemed by the learned.
