Verse 1

Jai Lakshmi Ramana Shri Lakshmi Ramana |
Satyanarayan Swami, Jan Patak Harana ||
Ratna Jadit Sinhasan, Adbhut Chhavi Rajai |
Narad Karat Nirajan Ghanta Dhvani Vajai ||

Glory to Lakshmi Ramana, the beloved of Lakshmi. The refrain names him Satyanarayan, the Lord who takes away people’s sins. He is pictured in wondrous splendour on a jewel-set throne while Narada waves the aarti lamp and bells ring.

Verse 2

Pragat Bhaye Kali Karan Dvijkun Darash Diya |
Vuddho Vaman Vanke Kanchan Mahal Kiya ||

He appeared in the Kali age and gave darshan to a Brahmin. Taking the form of an old Brahmin, he made a golden palace, the hymn’s image of the poor Brahmin’s changed fortune in the Satyanarayan katha. The print’s वामन is the spoken form of “Brahmin” here, not the Vamana avatar.

Verse 3

Durval Bhil Katharo Jinpar Kripa Kari |
Chandrachud Ek Raja Jinki Vipati Hari ||

He showed grace to a poor Bhil woodcutter and removed the troubles of a king named Chandrachud. The print’s कठारो is read narrowly as the wood-seller of the katha. Chandrachud is kept as printed; the separately sourced katha on this site names its kings differently.

Verse 4

Vaishya Manorath Payo Shraddha Taj Dini |
So Phal Bhogyo Prabhuji Pher Stuti Kini ||

A merchant gained what he wished for and then let go of his faith and his vow. He bore the result, and afterwards praised the Lord again. The verse recalls the katha’s forgotten-vow episode; it is a devotional narrative, not a warning of punishment.

Verse 5

Bhav Bhaktike Karan Chhin Chhin Rup Dharya |
Shraddha Dharan Kini Jinka Kaj Sarya ||

For the sake of loving devotion he took form after form, moment by moment. Those who held on to faith found their purposes fulfilled, as the hymn affirms.

Verse 6

Gval Val Sang Raja Vanmen Bhakti Kari |
Manvanchhit Phal Dinon Dindayalu Hari ||

A king joined the cowherd boys in worship in the forest, and Hari, compassionate to the humble, granted the fruit he desired. The print’s ग्वाल वाल and वनमें are the cowherd boys and “in the forest”.

Verse 7

Chadhat Prasad Savayo Kadali Phal Meva |
Dhup Dip Tulsise Raji Satdeva ||

Prasad is offered in a one-and-a-quarter measure, with banana, fruit and dried fruit, and Satyadeva is pleased with incense, a lamp and tulsi. These are offerings named in the hymn, not a required shopping list, and no flame or incense is required by this page.

Verse 8

Shri Satyanarayanjiki Jo Aarti Gavai |
Bhanat Mansukh Sampatti Manvanchhit Pavai ||

Whoever sings Shri Satyanarayan’s aarti, the closing says, attains prosperity and what the heart wishes. भणत marks a poet’s signature (“so says”), and मनसुख may be a name or “joy of mind”; other prints sign it differently. This is the hymn’s devotional hope, not a promise of money or any outcome.
