Verse 1

Yuge Atthavis Vitevari Ubha | Vamange Rakhumai Dise Divya Shobha ||
Pundalika Bheti Parabrahma Alenga | Charni Vahe Bhima Uddhari Jaga || Dhru ||
Jaydev Jaydev Jay Panduranga | Rakhumai Vallabha Raichya Vallabha Pave Jivalaga || 1 ||

The aarti opens with Vitthal of Pandharpur standing on a brick for twenty-eight yugas, with Rakhumai (Rukmini) at his left in divine splendour; twenty-eight ages is the tradition's way of saying since time beyond reckoning, not a dated claim. The Supreme Brahman came to meet Pundalika (आलेंगा, read as आलें गा, 'came, O listener'), and the Bhima river flowing at his feet uplifts the world. The refrain hails Pandurang as the beloved of Rakhumai and of Rai (also written Rahi, whom the Pandharpur tradition commonly identifies with Radha) and asks him, the dearest one, to come to the devotee (पावे). The 1894 print sets the mark धृ० after the opening lines and numbers the refrain १; the 1878 and 1927 prints reverse the two marks. The refrain is printed in full only here and cued again at the end; it is sung after every stanza.

Verse 2

Tulsi Mala Gala Kar Thevun Kati | Kase Pitambar Kasturi Lallati ||
Dev Survar Nitya Yeti Bheti | Garud Hanumant Pudhe Ubhe Rahati || 2 ||

This stanza describes the standing image: a garland of tulsi at his neck and his hands resting on his waist; a yellow silk garment (pitambar) tucked at the waist and musk on his forehead. The print spells the forehead word लल्लाटी with a doubled ल; it is the usual ललाटीं, 'on the forehead', and the 1878 and 1927 prints write it with a final anusvara. The gods and the foremost of the celestials come every day to see him, and Garuda and Hanuman stand before him.

Verse 3

Ovalu Aarti Kurvandya Yeti | Chandrabhage Maji Soduniya Deti ||
Dindi Pataka Vaishnav Nachti | Pandharicha Mahima Varnu Mi Kiti || 3 ||

The scene moves to the worship at Pandharpur. Aartis are waved and kurvandi offerings (things waved around the deity in devotion) come; they are released into the Chandrabhaga, as the Bhima is called at Pandharpur. Processions (dindi) with banners arrive and the Vaishnava devotees dance. The singer asks how much of Pandharpur's glory he can describe. The 1927 print places this stanza fourth, and the shorter 1878 form does not have it.

Verse 4

Ovalu Aarti Anuchhatrapala | Soniyachi Kamale Padmale Tala ||
Rai Rakhumabai Raniya Sakala | Ovalila Raja Vitthal Sanvala || 4 ||

Let us wave the aarti to अनुछत्रपाळा: the print's word is kept, but what it names is not certain. The 1927 print has a differently worded line, धन्य वेणुनाद अनुक्षेत्रपाळा, which would point to a guardian of the holy place; that reading is not imported here. The next half-line pictures golden lotuses in the lotus pools. Rai, Rakhumabai and all the queens waved the aarti to the dark-hued king, Vitthal. The shorter 1878 form does not have this stanza.

Verse 5

Ashadhi Kartiki Bhaktajan Yeti Sadhujan Yeti | Chandrabhagetiri Snane Je Kariti ||
Darshan Hela Matre Taya Hoy Mukti | Keshavasi Namdev Bhave Ovaliti || 5 ||
Jay Dev Jay Dev ||

On the Ashadhi and Kartiki pilgrimages devotees and saints come and bathe on the bank of the Chandrabhaga; the aarti says that liberation comes to them at the mere glance of the Lord's darshan. That is the hymn's devotional statement, not a guaranteed result, and the line is not an instruction to bathe in the river. In the signature line Namdev waves the aarti to Keshava with devotion, which is how the text names its poet. The closing जय देव जय देव० cues the refrain. The 1894 print alone repeats साधुजन येती in the first half-line and has तीरीं where the 1878 and 1927 prints have माजी.
