(Path of Selfless Duty & Action Without Attachment).
Niyatam Kuru Karma Tvam Karma Jyayo Hyakarmanah |
Sharirayatrapi Cha Te Na Prasiddhyedakarmanah ||
Perform your prescribed duty, for action is superior to inaction. Even the maintenance of your physical body would not be possible through inaction.
Tasmadasaktah Satatam Karyam Karma Samachara |
Asakto Hyacharankarma Paramapnoti Purushah ||
Therefore, perform your duty efficiently without attachment to the results; for by working without attachment, a person attains the Supreme.
Yadyadacharati Shreshthastattadevetaro Janah |
Sa Yatpramanam Kurute Lokastadanuvartate ||
Whatever actions a great person performs, common people follow. Whatever standards they set by exemplary acts, the whole world pursues.
Shreyan Svadharmo Vigunah Paradharmat Svanushthitat |
Svadharme Nidhanam Shreyah Paradharmo Bhayavahah ||
It is far better to perform one's own natural duty, even if imperfectly, than to perform another's duty perfectly. Death in one's own duty is beneficial; another's duty is fraught with danger.
