(Parivartini (Parsva) Ekadashi)

Parivartini, also called Parsva Ekadashi, falls on Saturday, 11 September 2027 in the stored New Delhi Smarta calendar. It is Bhadrapada Shukla Ekadashi. AstroSage also calls it Padma; Padma Purana, Uttara Khanda chapter 57, uses that name but gives a different account from the publisher's Vamana–Bali story. This hub offers a short original chapter overview and optional Vishnu prayers, not a complete katha or a promise of rain or prosperity. Dates can differ by a day elsewhere.

When is Parivartini (Parsva) Ekadashi?

Bhadrapada Shukla Ekadashi, with Parsva retained as the stored observance id. Parivartini and Padma are names used by the cited calendar publisher; shared names do not make distinct source accounts identical.

What to read

Puja outline

  1. Choose prayer with or without fasting according to health needs and medical advice. Prayer does not replace care or practical help.
  2. Clean a prayer space and use an existing Vishnu image if you wish. No new image, ritual set or purchase is required.
  3. Offer available flowers or tulsi as an optional household custom. Keep any diya attended and extinguish it before leaving or sleeping.
  4. Choose one complete Vishnu prayer. The linked texts are optional choices, not a fixed sequence or an isolated formula from chapter 57.
  5. Reflect on compassion and nonviolence. Help people facing hardship if you can, without caste exclusion, pressure or promises of a reward.
  6. If you fast, follow your location and tradition's parana guidance. No waterless fast, vigil, donation scale or clock time is prescribed here.

Names and the stored date

The existing calendar lists Parsva (Parivartini) Ekadashi for 11 September 2027, New Delhi, Smarta. AstroSage corroborates that date, uses Padma as another name and explains Parivartini through Vishnu turning during his sleep. That is attributed devotional context, not proof that every text gives the same account. No separate Vamana birthday or local ceremony date is inferred.

Chapter 57: an original short Padma overview

The selected chapter names Bhadrapada bright-fortnight Ekadashi Padma. During drought, Mandhata seeks Angiras's counsel. The king refuses a proposal to harm an innocent ascetic and asks for another course. The sage recommends the observance; the narrative then describes rain and relief. This is a short original overview, not a complete chapter or katha. The publisher's Vamana–Bali account remains separate and is not inserted into this summary.

Disclose the harmful premise, do not endorse it

The source's proposed violence is caste-based, and the king rejects it. This hub does not endorse that premise, caste restrictions on spiritual practice, scapegoating or harm. Drought and hunger are not evidence of a person's or community's moral failure. The short summary does not erase the difficult passage or convert it into a modern instruction.

Rain and reward language have limits

The chapter's rainfall and prosperity belong to its sacred narrative; observance is not a weather intervention or a guaranteed solution to hunger, debt or hardship. The closing donation and formula passage is not extracted as a universal ritual checklist. No required purchase, fixed gift or isolated sacred formula is added to this optional prayer outline.

Evidence timestamp stays unchanged

The date retains its stored 29 September 2026 Drik Panchang, Prokerala and AstroSage evidence. Fresh inspection of AstroSage's 2027 New Delhi page on 3 October agrees on Saturday, 11 September. That corroboration is not a fresh two-source recheck. No parana clock time or unverified alternate tradition date is copied or inferred.

Frequently asked questions

When is Parivartini Ekadashi in 2027?

Saturday, 11 September 2027 for the stored New Delhi Smarta reference. Check your own location and tradition for the observance and parana.

Why does this page use the Parsva URL?

Parsva is the existing calendar observance id. The permanent page covers Parivartini and Parsva together rather than creating duplicate pages for the names.

Are the Padma and Vamana–Bali accounts the same?

Not in the inspected sources. Chapter 57 gives the Mandhata–Angiras account; the calendar publisher gives Vamana–Bali context. They are disclosed separately, not combined into one claimed scriptural katha.

Is the complete katha published here?

Not yet. A complete reader needs a reusable controlling edition, complete-boundary and language checks. This hub offers only an original short chapter overview.

Does this observance guarantee rainfall or prosperity?

No. Such outcomes are narrative and devotional claims, not forecasts or guarantees. Optional prayer can accompany practical support without replacing it.

What can I read without fasting?

Om Jai Jagdish Hare, the selected Vishnu 108-name reader or Vishnu Sahasranamam are complete optional choices. No compulsory fast or sequence is required by this hub.
