हनुमान गायत्री मंत्र — Hanuman Gayatri mantra

A short contemplative petition in the exact form printed by the selected 1929 Khemraj witness; other Hanuman Gayatri-family wordings circulate.

Mantra

ॐ अञ्जनीजाय विद्महे वायुपुत्राय धीमहि ।
तन्नः कपिः प्रचोदयात् ॥

oṃ añjanījāya vidmahe vāyuputrāya dhīmahi |
tan naḥ kapiḥ pracodayāt ||

English meaning: May we know the one born of Anjani; we meditate on the Wind-god's son. May that vanara inspire our understanding.

हिंदी अर्थ: हम अञ्जनी से उत्पन्न हनुमान को जानें; वायुपुत्र का ध्यान करें। वे कपि हमारी बुद्धि और समझ को प्रेरित करें।

Roman Hindi meaning: Hum Anjani se utpann Hanuman ko jaanein; Vayuputra ka dhyan karein. Ve kapi hamari buddhi aur samajh ko prerit karein.

मनोजवं ध्यान श्लोक — Manojavam dhyana shloka

A meditation verse praising Hanuman's speed, self-mastery, intelligence, leadership and service to Rama.

Shloka

मनोजवं मारुततुल्यवेगं जितेन्द्रियं बुद्धिमतां वरिष्ठम् ।
वातात्मजं वानरयूथमुख्यं श्रीरामदूतं शिरसा नमामि ॥

manojavaṃ mārutatulyavegaṃ jitendriyaṃ buddhimatāṃ variṣṭham |
vātātmajaṃ vānarayūthamukhyaṃ śrīrāmadūtaṃ śirasā namāmi ||

English meaning: I bow my head to Hanuman, messenger of Shri Rama—swift as thought, moving with the speed of the wind, master of the senses, foremost among the intelligent, son of the Wind and leader of the vanara host.

हिंदी अर्थ: मैं सिर झुकाकर श्रीराम के दूत हनुमान को प्रणाम करता हूँ—जो मन के समान तीव्र, वायु-जैसी गति वाले, इन्द्रियों को जीतने वाले, बुद्धिमानों में श्रेष्ठ, वायुपुत्र और वानर-समूह के प्रमुख हैं।

Roman Hindi meaning: Main sir jhukakar Shri Ram ke doot Hanuman ko pranam karta hoon—jo man ke samaan teevra, vayu-jaisi gati wale, indriyon ko jeetne wale, buddhimaanon mein shreshth, Vayuputra aur vanar-samooh ke pramukh hain.

यत्र यत्र स्मरण श्लोक — Yatra Yatra remembrance shloka

A verse picturing Hanuman listening with folded hands and tear-filled eyes wherever Raghunatha is praised.

Shloka

यत्र यत्र रघुनाथकीर्तनं तत्र तत्र कृतमस्तकाञ्जलिम् ।
वाष्पवारिपरिपूर्णलोचनं मारुतिं नमत राक्षसान्तकम् ॥

yatra yatra raghunāthakīrtanaṃ tatra tatra kṛtamastakāñjalim |
vāṣpavāriparipūrṇalocanaṃ mārutiṃ namata rākṣasāntakam ||

English meaning: Wherever Raghunatha is praised, bow to Maruti, who is pictured there with hands joined at his head and eyes filled with tears—the ender of rakshasas.

हिंदी अर्थ: जहाँ-जहाँ रघुनाथ का कीर्तन होता है, वहाँ-वहाँ सिर पर हाथ जोड़कर और आँसुओं से भरे नेत्रों के साथ उपस्थित, राक्षसों का अंत करने वाले मारुति को प्रणाम करो।

Roman Hindi meaning: Jahan-jahan Raghunath ka kirtan hota hai, vahan-vahan sir par haath jodkar aur aansuon se bhare netron ke saath upasthit, rakshason ka ant karne wale Maruti ko pranam karo.

What is Hanuman Mantras and Dhyana Shlokas?

This complete selected collection contains exactly three source-documented Hanuman texts: one Gayatri-style mantra, the Manojavam meditation shloka and the Yatra Yatra remembrance shloka. Their genres and source variants stay visible instead of treating every devotional line as the same kind of mantra.

Choose by reading purpose

Choose the Hanuman Gayatri for a short contemplative petition, Manojavam to meditate on Hanuman's speed, discipline, intelligence and service to Rama, or Yatra Yatra to remember Hanuman in the setting of praise of Raghunatha. These are literary and devotional distinctions, not promises that one text produces a particular result.

Why the labels differ

The first item is a Gayatri-style mantra. Manojavam is presented as a dhyana shloka, and Yatra Yatra as a remembrance shloka. They are grouped because readers commonly search for them together, but the page does not erase their different textual roles.

Selected readings and variants

The 1929 Khemraj scan controls all three readings. A separately digitized copy confirms its exact Hanuman Gayatri form, including तन्नः कपिः. The 1912 Manojavam comparison closes with शरणं प्रपद्ये rather than the selected शिरसा नमामि, while the 1933 Yatra Yatra comparison prints बाष्प where the selected base prints वाष्प. No editions are blended.

Pronunciation and practice boundary

The Roman lines are a reading aid with long vowels and key Sanskrit sounds marked. Traditions differ on pronunciation, counts and ritual setting; this page requires no fixed count, weekday, direction, fast or initiation and does not replace guidance within a specific lineage.

No promised outcomes

The source verses contain devotional praise and petition. Valkala does not promise cures, protection, wealth, victory, control, enemy destruction or any guaranteed result, and excludes advanced bija, nyasa, coercive and medical procedures from this beginner collection.
