Shravana and Pausha Putrada are distinct

Mahijit and Lomasha: a short source summary

In chapter 55, Krishna tells Yudhishthira about King Mahijit of Mahishmati, who is distressed at having no son. His subjects seek Lomasha's advice. The sage relates a past-life episode in which the king prevented a thirsty cow from drinking, then recommends Shravana Putrada observance. The subjects observe it and offer its merit to the king; the account then describes the queen giving birth to a son. This is an original short summary, not a complete chapter or katha reader.

No fertility guarantee or family judgment

The past-life explanation and birth outcome belong to the sacred narrative, not a diagnosis or a promise that fasting produces pregnancy or a son. Childlessness is not evidence of wrongdoing; a person's worth and spiritual life do not depend on parenthood. No gender preference, pressure on a spouse or replacement for medical care is endorsed. The source's son-centred social setting is disclosed without applying it as a universal rule.

The later pavitra discussion is separate

After the birth account, chapter 55 continues into pavitraropana on Dwadashi, including materials, consecration, social-context instructions and reward language. This hub does not turn that later passage into a universal Ekadashi household checklist, infer a 2027 ceremony date, prescribe an isolated formula or claim this short prayer outline replaces a formal rite. A complete reader would need to document the entire selected boundary separately.
