Yudhishthir Vasudev Krishna se Phalguna Krishna Ekadashi ka naam poochhte hain. Krishna Narad dwara Kamalasan Brahma se Vijaya ka punya poochhne ka samvad sunate hain. Brahma ise pracheen, pavitra, paap-nashak aur rajaon ko vijay dene vala vrat kehte hain, jiska yeh varnan unhone pehle kisi ko nahin bataya.

Katha Ram ke chaudah varsh ke vanvas aur Sita-Lakshman sahit Panchavati nivas ko yaad karti hai. Vahan Ravan Sita ka haran karta hai. Dukh se vyakul Ram ghoomte hue pranheen Jatayu dekhte hain; phir van mein Kabandh ka vadh aur Sugriv se mitrata hoti hai. Ram ke liye vanar-senaein ikatthi hoti hain. Hanuman Lanka ke udyan mein Janaki ko dekhkar Ram ka pehchan-chihna dete, mahan karya karte aur lautkar Ram ko sab batate hain. Chuna Sanskrit keval udyan aur pehchan-chihna kehta hai; Angrezi ke Ashok-udyan vistar ya kisi vishesh vastu ko yahan apne se nahin joda gaya.

Yeh Padma Purana ka chayanit bhakti aakhyan hai, Valmiki Ramayana ka yeh prasang hone ya aitihasik ghatna ka daava nahin. Haran aur yuddh katha ke tathya hain, hinsa ya peedit ko dosh dene ki salah nahin.

English meaning: Yudhishthira asks Vasudeva Krishna the name of Phalguna's dark-fortnight Ekadashi. Krishna recounts Narada asking lotus-seated Brahma about Vijaya's merit. Brahma describes an ancient, pure vow praised for removing sin and giving kings victory, whose account he says he has not previously told anyone. The story recalls Rama's fourteen-year forest exile and residence at Panchavati with Sita and Lakshmana. Ravana abducts Sita there. Distraught, Rama wanders and sees Jatayu without life; Kabandha's killing in the forest and friendship with Sugriva follow. Vanara forces assemble for Rama. Hanuman finds Janaki in Lanka's garden, gives Rama's identifying token, performs a great deed and returns to report everything. The selected Sanskrit says garden and identifying token only; the English comparison's Ashoka-garden expansion or a particular object is not added here. Hearing Hanuman, Rama chooses to depart with Sugriva's consent. He asks Saumitra Lakshmana what merit will help them cross the very deep ocean filled with aquatic creatures, seeing no easy means. This is the selected Padma Purana devotional account, not a claim that this episode belongs to the Valmiki Ramayana or is a historical event. Abduction and battle are narrative facts, not advice to use violence or blame a victim.

Lakshman Ram ko Aadidev aur Puran Purushottam kehte hain. Ve batate hain ki dweep mein Bakadalbhya muni rehte hain, unka ashram aadha yojana door hai aur vahan anya anek Brahman bhi hain. Ram ko jakar us pracheen shreshtha rishi se poochhne ki salah dete hain. Yojana ko aadhunik doori ya yatra-nirdesh mein nahin badla gaya.

Ram Bakadalbhya ke paas jakar sir jhukakar pranam karte hain, jaise dev Vishnu ko karte hain. Muni unhein kisi karan manav shareer mein aaye Puran Purushottam ke roop mein pehchante aur prasann hokar aagaman ka karan poochhte hain. Ram kehte hain ki sena sahit samudratat par Lanka aur rakshason ko jeetne aaye hain; muni kripa karke samudra paar karne ka upay batayein.

Prasann Bakadalbhya kamalnayan Ram ko ekagra hokar shreshtha vrat karne ko kehte hain. Phalguna Krishna Vijaya se sheeghra vijay, Lanka aur rakshason ko jeetne par nirmal keerti tatha vanaron sahit samudra paar karne ka aashvasan dete hain. Ye patra ke dharmik vachan hain, vrat se yuddh, pariksha, mukadme, vyavasay ya kisi aadhunik prayas mein nishchit saphalata ka vaada nahin.

English meaning: Lakshmana calls Rama the primordial deity and ancient Purushottama. He says the sage Bakadalbhya lives on an island, his hermitage half a yojana away, with many other Brahmins there. He recommends consulting this ancient, eminent sage. Yojana is not converted into a modern distance or travel instruction. Rama visits Bakadalbhya and bows his head, as a god bows to Vishnu. The sage recognises the ancient Purushottama who has entered a human body for some reason, and gladly asks why he has come. Rama explains that he has arrived at the seashore with an army to conquer Lanka and its rakshasas, asking the sage's favour and a means of crossing. Delighted, Bakadalbhya tells lotus-eyed Rama to undertake the superior vow with concentration. He promises swift victory through Phalguna's dark Vijaya, pure fame after conquering Lanka and the rakshasas, and crossing with the vanaras. These are a character's religious assurances, not guaranteed success in war, examinations, litigation, business or any modern undertaking.

Roman Hindi meaning: Lakshman Ram ko Aadidev aur Puran Purushottam kehte hain.

Muni Dashami par sone, chandi, tambe ya mitti ka susajjit jalpoorn kalash aur pallav rakhne ka varnan karte hain. Neeche saat dhanya, oopar jau aur us par svarna Narayan ka roop aata hai. Saat dhanyon ki nayi soochi, nirdharit moolya ya samagri khareedne ka niyam nahin gadha gaya.

Ekadashi pratah snan, sthir kalash, gale mein mala aur lep, pugi-phala tatha narikela, gandh, dhoop, deep aur vividh naivedya ka varnan hai. Din kalash ke samne achchhi kathaon mein aur rat jagaran mein beetne ki baat hai. Akhand vrat ke liye ghritadeep ka kathan bhi hai. Ye aitihasik srot-vivaran hain, bhojan-pani rokne, neend chhodne ya deepak bina nigrani jalate rehne ki salah nahin.

Dwadashi sooryoday par kalash jal-sthan, nadi ke prasravana ya tadaga tak le jakar sthapit aur poojit karne ka prasang hai. Chayanit Sanskrit ke tadaga aur jal-sthan ko Angrezi tulna ke nadi ya dhara mein rakhne vale shabdon se nahin badla gaya. Jal mein pravesh, vastuein visarjit karna ya paryavaran ko hani pahunchana is paath ka aadhunik nirdesh nahin.

Dev-roop sahit kalash Vedaparag Brahman ko aur uske saath mahadaan dene ki charcha aati hai. Muni Ram ko yoothpatiyon sahit yeh vrat karne aur vijay paane ka vachan dete hain. Ye srot ke samajik aur dharmik pad hain, jati-aadharit pravesh-niyam, daan ka dabav ya khareed ki mang nahin. Ichchhanusar saral smaran mein bhojan, pani, surakshit vishram aur dekhbhal uplabdh rahein. Deepak prayog karein to nigrani rakhein aur sone se pehle bujhayein.

English meaning: The sage describes a decorated water-filled pitcher of gold, silver, copper or clay with foliage on Dashami. Seven grains below, barley above and a golden Narayana image follow. No new list of seven grains, fixed price or purchasing rule is invented. Ekadashi's morning bath, a steady pitcher, garland and unguents, pugi-phala and narikela, fragrance, incense, lights and varied food offerings are described. The day is spent hearing good accounts before the pitcher, and the night in vigil. A ghee lamp for an uninterrupted vow is also mentioned. These are historical source descriptions, not advice to withhold food or water, forgo sleep or leave a lamp unattended. At Dwadashi sunrise the account takes the pitcher to a water-place, river spring or tank for placement and worship. Sanskrit's tank and water-place wording is not replaced with the English comparison's placement in a river or stream. Entering water, immersing objects or harming the environment is not a modern instruction from this reader. Giving the pitcher with its divine image to a Brahmin versed in the Vedas and giving mahadanas accompany the description. The sage advises Rama to observe with troop leaders, promising victory. These source social and religious terms impose no caste-based access rule, donation pressure or purchasing requirement. Food, water, safe rest and care remain available for optional simple remembrance. If using a lamp, attend it and extinguish it before sleeping.

Ram sunkar bataye anusar vrat karte hain. Katha kehti hai ki Raghunandan vijayi hue, Sita mili, Lanka jeeti gayi aur yuddh mein Paulastya Ravan mare gaye. Is sankshipt samapan mein pul-nirman, yuddh ka naya drishya ya Sita ki pariksha apne se nahin jodi gayi.

Brahma Narad ko putra kehkar batate hain ki is reeti vrat karne vale is lok mein vijay aur akshaya parlok paate hain; isliye Vijaya vrat karne ki dharmik prashansa hai. Vijaya Mahatmya sabhi paap mitane vala aur padhne-sunne par Vajapeya ka phal dene vala kaha gaya hai.

Alag samapan ise Padma Mahapurana ki pachpan hazar vali samhita ke Uttara Khanda ka Phalguna Krishna Vijaya Mahatmya, adhyay 44 kehta hai. Is chune samapan mein Umapati–Narad samvad ka pad nahin hai; doosre adhyay se nahin laya gaya. Aarambh ka Krishna–Yudhishthir aur bheetar Brahma–Narad tatha Ram–Bakadalbhya samvad poora hai. Sabhi 39 kramankit ikaiyon ka yeh mool sankshipt gadya punarkathan hai, Sanskrit pratilekh ya aupcharik vrat-pustika nahin.

English meaning: Rama hears and observes as instructed. The story says Raghunandana becomes victorious, Sita is recovered, Lanka conquered and Paulastya Ravana killed in battle. This compact close does not acquire an invented bridge-building scene, additional battle sequence or Sita trial. Addressing Narada as son, Brahma says people observing in this way gain victory here and an inexhaustible hereafter, praising the Vijaya vow accordingly. Vijaya's greatness is said to remove all sins, with Vajapeya merit from reading or hearing. These complete religious benefit statements are neither guarantees of success or afterlife outcomes nor release from responsibility for harm. The separate colophon identifies chapter 44 as Phalguna's dark Vijaya praise in the Uttara section of the Padma Mahapurana's fifty-five-thousand collection. This selected ending does not name an Umapati–Narada dialogue; that wording is not imported from another chapter. Krishna–Yudhishthira's opening and the inner Brahma–Narada and Rama–Bakadalbhya exchanges are complete. This original condensed prose retells all 39 numbered units, not a Sanskrit transcription or formal vow manual.

Roman Hindi meaning: Ram sunkar bataye anusar vrat karte hain.
